Warner Bros. Pictures has acquired the rights to Ernie Cline's novel "Ready Player One."
The novel tells the story of Wade Watts, a teenager who escapes a dull life by playing Oasis, a global website that allows players to live fictional, idyllic lives.
After the game's founder dies, it is announced that his fortune will be inherited by the winner of an elaborate treasure hunt. Watts must then compete with other players and corporate enemies who will do whatever is necessary to win the treasure, in Oasis and the real world.
